RCB batter Virat Kohli wreaked havoc on Thursday when he slammed a record-breaking sixth century to propel his team to a win in their do-or-die game against SunRisere Hyderabad. Kohli amassed 100 runs in just 63 balls with the help of 12 fours and four sixes and helped RCB chase down a total of 187 runs with four balls and eight wickets to spare. Apart from Kohli, Faf du Plessis also contributed with 71 runs off just 47 balls, adding 172 runs for the opening wicket which is the highest by an opening duo in the ongoing IPL 2023. After scoring this century, Kohli also equalized Chris Gayle’s feat in terms of scoring the most centuries in the IPL.
The former RCB skipper during his heroics smashed a massive 103 m six in the ninth over of the game, and that hogged the limelight. Kohli did this magic in debutant Nitish Reddy’s over.
Earlier, Klaasen played a terrific knock of 51-ball 104-run, hitting six sixes and eight fours, and helped SRH post 186 runs in their 20 overs. For RCB, spinner Bracewell picked up two wickets while Siraj, Harshal, and Shahbaz scalped a wicket each and restricted SRH to 186 runs.
In reply, RCB batters Virat Kohli (100) and Faf du Plessis (71) were in haste ever since both came out to bat as they helped their team win the game with four balls to spare. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Natarajan took a wicket each.
In order to qualify in the playoffs, RCB have to win their next clash to stay alive in the race as Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants are at 15 points with one match to go. RCB is tied with MI on 14 points but is one position ahead of them in the points table due to a better net run rate.
