Kolkata Knight Riders outplayed Royal Challengers Bangalore by 81 runs at Eden Gardens on Thursday. Just after a terrific victory, the KKR squad were elated as their owner Shahrukh Khan was around. KKR took to its Twitter and shared a video where the Badshah of Bollywood was spotted encouraging Rinku Singh to sing the anthem of their team in the changing room.
“We will all follow Rinku,” says Shahrukh as other teammates cheer for the batter to sing.
The batter then started chanting the anthem, “So put your hand on your heart and sing, playing for KKR means everything”.
Previously, Rinku Singh played a brilliant knock of 33-ball 46 and helped KKR from 89 for five to reach to 204 runs. All-rounder Shardul Thakur also starred with the bat and made 68 runs in just 29 balls, while opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz also contributed with 57 runs in just 44 balls.
"Even, I don't know where it came from! Looking at the scorecard, everyone would have said we were struggling. But your subconscious mind takes over. You also have to have skills to do that at the higher level, but we also work hard in the nets," Shardul said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
"Coaching staff do the throwdowns, and give us the option of range-hitting. And you know the pitches; they always suit the batsmen, don't they? Suyash bowled exceptionally well, and we know the quality Sunil and Varun have. They have fun, take wickets. This was a perfect day," the all-rounder said.
In bowling, the KKR spinners took the onus on their shoulders as Varun Chakravarthy scalped four wickets and gave away just 15 runs with young Suyash Sharma also picking 3 wickets while conceding only 30 runs. Because of the spiders, KKR were able to restrict RCB to 123 in 17.4 overs.
