Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one franchise that has always had the firepower to go all the way but for some reason have not been able to go on to win the title. Their best-ever performance came in the 2009 edition of the tournament where they finishes runners up against the Deccan Chargers, a feat which they repeated in 2016 under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. But the wait for an IPL trophy awaits him.
And now it seems like the RCB will make a minor tweak to their name which they hope will help them change their fortunes. The franchise has hinted the same in a video shared on their official social media handle with their new name set to be unveiled at the RCB Unbox event on March 19.
'Bengaluru' Set To Replace 'Bangalore' In RCB?
While there is no official confirmation yet, seems like Royal Challengers Bangalore will become Royal Challengers Bengaluru ahead of IPL 2024, meaning the acronym RCB will stay the same. Notably, Bengaluru happens to be the ancient name of the city and local supporters have long pushed for a change in name. As an official confirmation is awaited, RCB fans sit in anticipation of the confirmation.
