The Indian Premier League (IPL) is back to its home and away format this season and the much-awaited Chennai Super Kings and Chepauk reunion happened on April 3. The four-time IPL champions played their first home match this season and ended up on a winning note in what was a high-scoring contest at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Riding on Ruturaj Gaikwad's 57 off 31 and Devon Conway's 47 from 29 balls, the home team posted a mammoth 217/7 in their 20 overs. However, that was in danger of being chased down with Kyle Mayers (53 off 22) and Nicholas Pooran (32 off 18) looking in great form. In the end though, the Men in Yellow ended on the winning side clinching the match by 12 runs.
At the post match presentation while sharing his views on the game, the former India captain warned the CSK bowlers not to continue bowling wides or no balls or else they would have to play under a new captain. His remark came after Chennai bowlers conceded 13 wide balls apart from 3 no balls.
The video of his statement has also gone viral on social media after being shared by the official handle of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
"They’ll have to bowl no no balls and less wides. We are bowling too many extra deliveries and need to cut them out otherwise they’ll be playing under a new captain," Dhoni said.
Talking about his batting form, the wicketkeeper-batter has looked in great nick coming in to bat at the death overs. On Monday, he walked in to bat in the final over and wasted no time as he smashed the first two balls he faced for two sixes amid a Chennai crowd going crazy for Thala. The next delivery from Mark Wood got his wicket.
