Starc, whose bowl to Abhishek, was described by commentator Harsha Bhogle as "ball of the tournament", got one to angle into the left-hander before getting it to swing away, enough to beat the left-hander's shot and rattle the top of off stump. The video of Starc getting the wicket of Abhishek, the player with the highest strike rate in IPL 2024, in the first over of IPL 2024 final has gone viral on social media.
SRH Lose Three Wickets Inside Powerplay
SRH were further pushed to the backfoot when Vaibhav Arora removed Travis Head for a golden duck in the last ball of the second over of the innings. Starc then got the wicket of Rahul Tripathi to further exert their dominance early on.

Notably, the same two teams had faced off in Qualifier 1 where again it was Starc's opening spell that had set up the tone for a Kolkata victory. SRH had to win the Qualifier 2 to set up the final with KKR. Kolkata topped the league stage of IPL 2024 while SRH finished second.
