MI squad in IPL 2025: IPL 2025 mega auction wrapped up after two eventful days, with 577 players up for grabs and 182 securing contracts across 10 franchises. A record Rs 639.15 crore was spent as teams finalized their rosters. Rishabh Pant emerged as the auction's most expensive buy, snapped up by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore. Punjab Kings secured Shreyas Iyer for Rs 26.75 crore, while Kolkata Knight Riders bagged Venkatesh Iyer for Rs 23.75 crore.


Out of 577 players in contention, 395 went unsold. The second day showcased a focus on Indian pacers. A historic moment unfolded as 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, with a base price of Rs 30 lakh, was signed by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.10 crore, making him the youngest player ever to be sold at an IPL auction. Meanwhile, seasoned players like David Warner, Shardul Thakur, James Anderson, Prithvi Shaw, and Kane Williamson surprisingly remained unsold.


Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians made just four acquisitions on the first day of the auction, with New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult being the only player they invested a substantial amount in.

When will IPL 2025 start?


BCCI made a landmark move by announcing the start dates for the next three IPL seasons. According to the schedule,  2025 IPL will begin on March 14, with the final set for May 25. The 2026 season is scheduled from March 15 to May 31, while the 2027 season will run from March 14 to May 30.


IPL 2025 will feature 74 matches, maintaining the format of the previous three seasons. Although there were earlier discussions about increasing the number of matches to 84 in 2025 and 2026, and up to 94 in 2027, these expansions have not yet been implemented.
