Gautam Gambhir-mentored Lucknow Super Giants' splendid run in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 came to an end after they sustained a shocking 81-run loss against five-time IPL winners Mumbai Indians (MI) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 Eliminator on Wednesday (May 24) in Chennai. Despite absence of regular skipper KL Rahul (thigh injury), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) won three back-to-back matches to qualify for IPL 2023 Playoffs but Rohit's MI played better cricket on the night that mattered. For the second season in a row, Luckow Super Giants were knocked out in the Playoffs. Last year, which was also their debut season in world's richest T20 tournament, LSG were defeated by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator.
