KKR Flight Diverted: The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team, which was travelling from Lucknow to Kolkata after their IPL 2024 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), did not have a smooth travel experience when they boarded the flight on Monday. While their chartered flight was supposed to go directly from Lucknow to Kolkata, because of the rains in east India, the flight could not land.

The flight which was carrying the entire KKR contingent was initially diverted to Guwahati but later landed in Varanasi as heavy rains made it impossible for the flight to get landing clearance at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata. The Shreyas Iyer-led side was forced to spend the night in Varanasi. Fortunately though KKR have some time at their hands as they last played a match on May 5 and are next scheduled to take on Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 11 in Kolkata.

Things may not have gone as per the plan for KKR as far as their travel experience is concerned but in IPL 2024 they are a team in top form and currently find themselves at the summit with 8 wins from 11 matches and a net run rate (NRR) that is the best in the competition. That is the reason why despite being tied on points with RR, KKR find themselves at the first place on the ten-team table.
