Even though several Indian cricketers like Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni are automobile enthusiasts and also have the resources to buy what are dream vehicles for many others, not always do their busy schedule allow them to enjoy a drive in their prized possession.
In a recent interview, star India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli has said that he has ended up buying most of his cars, terming them as impulsive buys. In a recent episode of RCB Bold Diaries, Kohli goes on to explain that he realised the importance of being practical rather than buying one car after another.
"Most of the cars I used to own were impulsive buys, I ended up hardly driving or traveling in them as well," he said.
"Beyond a point, I was like this is pointless, so I ended up selling most of them and now we only use what we absolutely need to," he added.
"I think it is also part of growing up and being more aware and mature about things as well. You don't feel like owning 'toys' as such, it is about being practical," the 34-year-old said.
Coming to cricketing front, Kohli has found a way to get back among the runs in all three formats of the game and it would be interesting to see how he plays in IPL where is he is likely to bat as an opener along with Faf du Plessis.
Kohli himself has admitted that he is back to batting like he used before a rough patch saw him without a hundred for over 1000 calendar days. However, he noted that there was scope for improvement and hoped to have a good season in IPL 2023.
Kohli gave up Bangalore captaincy after which Du Plessis was appointed their leader who took them to the Playoffs in IPL 2022 but the team got eliminated after losing the Qualifier 2.
