New Delhi: The IPL governing council meeting to discuss all the major issues concerning the upcoming season from an operational, logistics and sponsorship standpoint is currently going at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai.

With postponement to the start of the tournament amid the coronavirus outbreak, the IPL committee is likely to come out with a revised fixture sometime next week, factoring into account the curtailment of the tournament, BCCI source apprised ABP News of this development.

According to BCCI sources , the IPL Committee will meet the franchisee owners of the 8 teams again next week to work out the best possible  structure and format under which the tournament could be played out given the constraints at present. Meanwhile, the organising body will reassess the coronavirus situation by taking inputs from health experts and ministry.

Earlier in the day, the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and the owners of the 8 teams reached the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai to attend the IPL governing council meeting. The 13th edition of the IPL which was scheduled to begin on March 29 was postponed to April 15, after the apex board took the decision with the coronavirus threat looming large at the background.

The corona virus outbreak has severely affected both domestic and international sporting events and Cricket too is facing the brunt of the health epidemic with the ICC postponing and cancelling many ongoing series, that includes the India vs South Africa ODI series.
