Star India and Mumbai Indians (MI) batter, Suryakumar Yadav, will miss more Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 matches as he recuperates from sports hernia surgery under the supervision of the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Yadav's absence from the Mumbai Indians has been noticeable in the league, leading to his team's losses in their two recent matches.

According to a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) source, as reported by PTI, Suryakumar Yadav is progressing well in his recovery and is expected to return to playing for the Mumbai Indians soon. However, he may have to miss a few more matches as he has already missed the first two games.

“Surya is making very good progress and very soon he will be back playing for MI. However, he might have to sit out for a few more games, having missed the first two,” a BCCI source said as quoted by PTI.

The BCCI's primary focus is ensuring that Suryakumar Yadav remains on track for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, which he is. While he will eventually play for the Mumbai Indians, it's crucial not to rush his return following sports hernia surgery.

”For BCCI, the main concern is if he is on course for World T20 which he is. He will play for MI but after a sports hernia surgery, he can’t be rushed,” the source said further.

Mumbai's Loss Against Sunrisers In High-Scoring Affair

In a thrilling high-scoring encounter of IPL 2024 on March 27, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) convincingly defeated MI by 31 runs. This eighth match of the tournament will be remembered in IPL history for the numerous records set during the game. MI captain, Hardik Pandya, won the toss in Hyderabad and elected to field first.

SRH went on an offensive rampage, setting a new IPL record by amassing a massive total of 277 for 3 against MI. Despite a resilient effort from MI, victory ultimately belonged to SRH. Several records were shattered in this contest, with both teams collectively scoring 523 runs, marking an IPL record in itself.
