MS Dhoni golden duck: Chennai Super Kings defeated Punjab Kings by 28 runs in PBKS vs CSK IPL 2024 match number 53 on Sunday (May 6) at HPCA stadium in Dharamshala. Opting to bat first, CSK posted a competitive total of 167/9. In response, PBKS faltered and were bowled out for 139 in 20 overs, ultimately losing the match by 28 runs.

Punjab Kings' (PBKS) standout bowler Harshal Patel picked three crucial wickets while conceding 24 runs in his four-over spell, maintaining a good economy rate of 6.00. His impressive spell included dismissing the five-time IPL winning captain MS Dhoni for a golden duck in the fifth ball of the 19th over.

When questioned about his subdued reaction after dismissing MS Dhoni, Harshal Patel responded by stating that he holds a great deal of respect for the CSK legend, which is why he refrained from celebrating the 'golden duck' dismissal.

"Wicket was on drier side. I have too much respect for him to celebrate when I get him out (on Dhoni). One of the advantages of playing a day game is that the square is quite rough. So the ball starts reversing. In my first over it was reversing. It's all about the feel of that delivery (slower one). More you bowl the better you get. Most batters don't pick it. Have been practicing in the nets, and when it comes out it gives you great results," Harshal said.

Chennai Super Kings currently have 12 points after six wins from 11 matches. They must win their remaining three matches to secure a berth in IPL 2024 Playoffs with 18 points.

On the other hand, for Punjab Kings to remain in IPL 2024 Playoffs contention, they need to win their remaining three matches to reach 14 points. However, having 14 points isn't going to be sufficient for Punjab as they now also rely on results of other teams to secure a IPL 2024 playoffs berth.
