IPL 2021, RCB Vs KKR: Eoin Morgan, the Kolkata Knight Riders captain was on the losing side on Sunday evening as Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match by 38 runs. Gautam Gambhir described an incident and called Morgan’s captaincy “weirdest”.  But what transpired?

KKR had picked up two wickets in the second over, that of Kohli and Patidar. Both wickets were taken by Varun Chakravarthy, the leg spinner. Despite that, Chakravarthy was denied a second over in that spell. This gave time for Maxwell to settle down and score 70+ runs. Gambhir felt that not gving Chakravarthy a second over was a mistake by Morgan. He said: "Virat Kohli was a big wicket, no doubt about it. But that has to be the weirdest kind of captaincy I have ever seen in my life. Someone taking two wickets in the first over, and then does not get to bowl the next one.” He was speaking on the post-match show on Star Sports.

He also said, "Probably when you know the in-form batter is in. You could have probably seen the game in the first six overs, had Varun Chakravarthy had picked the third wicket or dismissed Glenn Maxwell. This game could have been over there and then."

Gambhir also said that if the decision was taken by any Indian captain, then he would have been criticized. "I am happy that an Indian captain did not make this blunder. Because a lot of people would have actually got their daggers out had an Indian captain made this call. That was probably the most ridiculous captaincy I have ever seen," he concluded.
