IPL 2021: Kieron Pollard did the impossible for Mumbai Indians by scoring 87 runs in 34 balls. His inning was the catalyst for Mumbai Indians chasing the score of 19 in 20 overs. Pollard just came in today and smashed the ball with utmost confidence. A high-scoring chase that ended with Mumbai Indians having the last laugh. Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by 4 wickets and created a record of chasing the highest ever total by Mumbai Indians.

Earlier in the evening, Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to field first. The pitch looked good for batting and it progressed as the evening went on. CSK took advantage of the situation and scored 218 runs in their quota of 20 overs, Ambati Rayudu was the start for CSK as his quick-fire fifty took CSK's score to 218. Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali also scored 50s to ensure Rayudu gets good support. For the Mumbai Indians, Pollard was the pick of the bowlers with 2/12 in his 2 overs.

Chasing 219 is never an easy task, but Mumbai Indians came out confidently. Rohit and de Kock also put up a 50 run opening stand for MI. Things looked good until MI lost Rohit, Surya, and de Kock in quick succession. The onus was then on Kieron Pollard. He showed everyone that he should not be underestimated. He hit eight 6s in his innings of 87 in 34 balls. He scored the fastest fifty of this year's IPL, which was in 17 balls, and also hit the second-longest six of 103 M. Pollard was supported by Krunal and Hardik Pandya with little cameos, but Pollard required none today. He was on a six-hitting spree. He refused two singles in the last over when 16 were needed in 6 balls.

Let's see what the captains said after the match.

MS Dhoni: It was a brilliant wicket. The difference was the execution. Not being too tough on bowlers, we dropped catches at crucial intervals. The bowlers would execute better and learn from this. If you look at how it went. we were very off target when it came to execution. It is important to do that.

Rohit Sharma: Probably one of the T20 games that I have ever been part of. I have never seen a chase like that before. One of the best innings from Polly. Brilliant to see from outside. Good pitch, smaller ground, we wanted to stay positive once we finished the 20 overs. We got a decent start and then we saw what happened. We just wanted to go there and express ourselves
