IPL 2021: Despite a spirited performance by Hetmyer at the end of the match, Delhi Capitals could not prevent a loss. Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match by 1 run. AB de Villiers played a brilliant innings of 75 in 42 balls to win the Man of the Match award. His 75 included five 6s and three 4s.

Earlier in the match, Delhi Capitals won the toss and decided to bowl first. Virat Kohli’s men started well, but faltered in the middle overs. But de Villiers scored 23 runs in the last over, to take RCB’s total to 171 runs in 20 overs. Apart from De Villiers’ 75, Rajat Patidar was the second highest scorer by 31 runs. Worries wait for DC as their overseas bowlers are not firing as they are expected to.

In the second innings, Delhi Capitals had an okay start. Pant built a good innings in the middle. Royal Challengers Bangalore bowlers bowled well but death-bowling is a cause of concern for RCB. Nonetheless, 46 were required of the last 3 overs. Hetmyer scored 21 in the 18th over by Jamieson but Rishabh Pant couldn’t finish the match. RCB won the match eventually and take the top spot.

What did the captains say after the match?

Virat Kohli: At one stage I thought it was getting away, but Siraj's final over gave us confidence and we thought he would manage a professional and clinical job. If there weren't fielding lapses it wasn't going to go this far anyway. We lost wickets but AB went berserk and then in the last few overs while bowling Hetmyer got hold of a few, otherwise we were in control.

Rishabh Pant: Obviously feeling disappointed, especially when you are on the losing side. They got 10-15 runs extra on this wicket. Hetty (Hetmyer) played a brilliant innings, because of him we got close to the target. In the last over, we were thinking whoever gets the ball has to finish the job for the team.
