IPL 2024: Chennai Super Kings opener Devon Conway has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 due to a prevailing injury. The Kiwi batter was initially sidelined for starting weeks of the season, but has now been officially ruled out due to an injured thumb, which he fractured during New Zealand Vs Australia T20I series back in February. English pacer Richard Gleeson has been announced as the official replacement.
The announcement was made by the Indian Premier League officials via an official statement released on Thursday, April 18.

Conway, who represented Chennai Super Kings (CSK) over the course of the last two IPL seasons, played 23 matches and scored 924 runs, which included 9 half-centuries and a highest score of 92*. CSK have added Richard Gleeson to the squad for the remainder of the TATA IPL 2024. Gleeson has represented England in 6 T20Is and has 9 wickets against his name. Additionally, Gleeson has played 90 T20s and picked 101 T20 wickets. He will join CSK for his reserve price of INR 50 Lac.," read the statement.
Will Richard Gleeson Make It Into Starting XI Of CSK For IPL 2024?
Richard Gleeson is a late blommer and at the age of 36, it's highly unlikely that Ruturaj Gaikwad will fancy the English pacer ahead the likes of Matheesha Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman. Gleeson can however, help the yoiung Indian pacers develop by sharing his experiences and words of wisdom. Richard Gleeson last played a T20 match back in January, against Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20 2024, for his side Gulf Giants.
