Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals (DC) captain, has received a one-match suspension from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), for the team's third slow over-rate offence in the Indian Premier League. In addition, Pant was also fined INR 30 lakh after the team did not bowled their overs within the allocated time against Rajasthan Royals (RR). The members of the playing 11 as well as the Impact Sub were also fined.
Pant's suspension means that DC will not be able to ply his services for their crucial match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In absence of Pant, DC have announced that it would be India all-rounder Axar Patel who will be leading the team in their game against RCB.

"He (Axar) has been vice-captain at this franchise for the last couple of seasons. A very experienced IPL player, an experienced international player, a sensible guy, understands the game really well. He's excited about it. We started talking about it a couple of days ago when there was a possibility that Rishabh might be banned," Ricky Ponting, the head coach of the franchise, said in the pre-match press conference on May 11 (Saturday).
"He's got his head around it. We've done our bowlers' meetings today. He'll catch up with all the guys tonight, go through all the plans and make sure that he's ready to lead the team well tomorrow," he added.
