It was Men In Yellow who sealed the day with a fantastic win over Delhi Capitals by 77 runs on Saturday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. CSK’s terrific performances both with the bat and ball against Delhi helped them seal IPL 2023 playoff berth on Saturday.
While chasing down a total of 224, DC skipper David Warner was the only one who scored some runs from the front but he could not get much support from his teammates as Delhi could only manage 146/9 in 20 overs.
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and have opted to bat first. Once again CSK openers took the onus on their shoulders and provided their team with a solid start. Gaikwad made 79(50), while Conway scored 87(52) and powered their team to a massive total of 223/3 in their 20 overs.
Both Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway stitched 141 runs for the opening wicket and tormented Delhi’s bowlers all around the park. In reply, Warner was the lone warrior for his team as he scored 86(58) but then he could not sail his team's boat and lost the game. For CSK, Deepak Chahar scalped three wickets, while Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana picked up two wickets each.
