It was not at all a sweet homecoming for DC, as they are now 2nd in the table after the defeat (behind Gujarat Titans due to inferior Net Run Rate).
Speaking after the match, Axar Patel committed that his side threw away wickets when they had the game in their bag, especially middle-order, and deemed the perofrmance of his side as an 'off-day' for them.
Here's What Axar Patel Said After The Defeat
Axar Patel (Delhi Capitals Captain):
"I think the middle-order batters played loose shots and threw away their wickets. We lost wickets in the middle overs and that cost us the game. The required run rate was under control but we lost wickets. With the way the batters played their strokes, you can say that they panicked. You can't expect the lower-order batters to come in and do the job every time. They have an off-day as well."
"I was happy with that total on the board. The dew had arrived and the ball was coming onto the bat nicely. If we had managed to grab the catches, we could have restricted them to a lower total than that one."
"When you have three spinners, it's not like you have to bowl everyone. Two of them can bowl in the powerplay. Kuldeep is bowling unbelievably this season and whenever I want a wicket, I turn to him."
"I don't think there is any need to have a discussion. Middle-order batters are quite confident and it's important for them to forget this and move forward."
