New Delhi: Mahendra Singh Dhoni returned as the captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Sunday after all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja stepped down from captaincy duties to focus on his own form. Dhoni returns to lead CSK against a confident Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Maharashtra Cricket Association. The defending champions are desperately looking for their 3rd win this season. They lost their previous match against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Meanwhile, when captain Dhoni came out on the field for the toss, presenter Danny Morrison asked the veteran about his future with the Chennai Super Kings after SRH won the toss and opted to bowl first.

MS Dhoni came up with an interesting reply as he said he will definitely return in the yellow jersey next year in the IPL but didn't confirm whether he will join the CSK camp as a player or in some other role.

"You'll definitely see me in the yellow jersey, whether it is this one, or some other one, you never know. You need to realise the current situation. We have dropped catches, those are the things you want to omit. Those are the areas you need to work on. We have a couple of changes. Bravo and Dube are out. Devon and Simarjeet Singh are in," he said.

In what came as a shocking reaction on April 30, Jadeja relinquished CSK's captaincy. With just 2 wins from 8 games, Dhoni has a tough task on his hands to lead Chennai to IPL 2022 playoffs.

"You need to realise the current situation. We have dropped catches, those are the things you want to omit. Those are the areas you need to work on," Dhoni said.
