New Delhi: In what comes as an unfortunate incident, Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 auctioneer Huge Edmeades collapsed on the stage when the bidding for Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga was going on, ANI reported.


Day 1's auction was then halted and early lunch was taken when the incident took place. The reason behind the IPL auctioneer collapsing midway is not yet known but as per the official broadcast partner StarSports, Edmeades is now stable. News agency PTI quoted an IPL source as saying that Hugh was immediately taken to the hospital after fainting. The auction will now resume at 3:30 PM IST.










All 10 marquee players have been sold in the auction. While some made big gains, few players were forced to take salary cuts for IPL 2022.

Kagiso Rabada was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 9.25 million. India's senior opener Shikhar Dhawan bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 8.25 crore. Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 5 crore. Kiwi speedster Trent Boult bought by Rajasthan for Rs 8 crore. Devdutt Padikkal was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 8 crore.


Mohammed Shami was bought by Gujarat Titans for Rs 7 crore. Quinton de Kock was bought by Lucknow Giants for the same price. David Warner was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 6 crore 25 lakhs. Faf du Plessis was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 7 crore.


T20 specialist Jason Holder was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for 4.5 crores. Shimron Hetmyer was bought by Rajasthan Royals for eight and a half crores. KKR bought T20 specialist Nitish Rana for Rs 8 crore and Shreyas Iyer, probable skipper, for Rs 12.25 crore.
