New Delhi: Former West Indies captain Brian Lara believes that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener Shubman Gill is just one match away from playing a big innings. Lara said that in the UAE leg of the Indian Premier League, young talented batsman Shubman has been slightly unlucky and has not been able to showcase his full batting abilities. The former Windies skipper feels that Shubman deserves a second chance and KKR team management shouldn't simply dop him from playing XI in future games. The star batsman, in his last few IPL games, has scored 48, 13, 9 and 30 runs in IPL 2021 Phase 2 till the ongoing match against Punjab Kings.

Brian Lara said, "Shubman has been a little unlucky. If you see him batting, he is in some form and I am sure he is a match away from a big score. He is partnering well with Venkatesh Iyer  And I think both of them can come together and do something special. KKR would not like to replace Shubman as of now."

Lara said that the batting order of Punjab Kings, which looks strong, has not performed as expected.  He said, "I think he has the potential. He is not playing good cricket right now. His batting has always been strong. However, Nicholas Pooran and Chris Gayle have been out on several occasions."

Punjab Kings senior batsman Chris Gayle has withdrawn from the bio-bubble and he will no longer be a part of the team in the remaining matches of IPL 2021.  Gayle took a sudden decision to pull out of the tournament on Thursday and was struggling with poor form in the IPL.

Indian young batsman Shubman Gill has impressed everyone with his talent in his short international career.  The 22-year-old young cricketer has made his mark around the world with his batting skills.
