New Delhi: Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who is associated with defending champions Mumbai Indians has been injured and replaced by young fast-bowler Simarjeet Singh in the team for the remaining matches of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 Phase 2.
The franchise took to Twitter on Wednesday to give this information. Arjun is yet to make his debut in the cash-rich tournament and now will have to wait at least one more year to make his debut in the popular T20 tournament. As a mentor, Arjun's father Sachin Tendulkar is also associated with Mumbai Indians.
"Mumbai Indians have added Simarjeet Singh as an injury replacement to Arjun Tendulkar for the remainder of their IPL 2021 season," Mumbai Indian announced. "The right arm medium fast bowler has started training with the team after completing the mandatory quarantine as per IPL guidelines."
In the IPL players' Auction 2021 earlier this year, talented Arjun Tendulkar was acquired by Mumbai Indians for his base price of 20 lakhs. For Mumbai, Arjun has played two T20 matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
So far in IPL 14, Mumbai Indians have won five wins from 11 games and with 10 points are currently at number five in the IPL 2021 points table. In the UAE leg, Mumbai Indians have won just one out of four matches. An all-round effort from Mumbai Indians powered them to a clinical six-wicket win over Punjab Kings in their last match on Tuesday. Mumbai's next match is against Delhi Capitals on Saturday.
