In what comes as a big blow for Delhi Capitals, star pacer Anrich Nortje has tested Coronavirus positive. Nortje is now the 5th player in IPL 2021 to test positive for the dreaded virus. Before him, Axar Patel of Delhi Capitals, Daniel Sams and Devdutt Padikkal of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Nitish Rana of Kolkata Knight Riders have tested Coronavirus positive.

"He came in with a negative report, but has unfortunately tested positive now while undergoing quarantine," the source told ANI.

As per the BCCI SOP for a COVID positive test, the Coronavirus positive person will have to undergo a 10-day isolation period outside the bio-secure bubble from the date of collection of sample or the first day of symptoms, whichever is earlier.

Nortje had recently arrived in India on April 6 with Kagiso Rabada from South Africa after playing ODI series against Pakistan. However, the report of Rabada has come negative and both the players are in quarantine at the moment.

Delhi Capitals (DC) have to play their second match in IPL 2021 against Rajasthan Royals (RR). In the first match, Rishabh Pant-led Delhi defeated Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets.

Both Rabada and Nortje had taken 52 wickets in IPL 2021. Nortje, who played his first-ever IPL last year, took 22 wickets in 16 matches. Delhi Capitals had made it to the IPL final for the first-time ever.
