India vs Zimbabwe 3rd ODI: Team India's star pace bowler Deepak Chahar emulated Ravichandran Ashwin in Ind vs Zim 3rd ODI in Harare. Chahar, who was handed the ball by skipper KL Rahul to bowl the first over in Zimbabwe's innings, casually knocked over the bails at the non-striker's end seeing batter Innocent Kalia well out of the crease. Notably, Chahar did not appeal to the umpire after 'mankading' Kalia as it was just a warning to him.

Perhaps, it would have happened for the first time in the history of international cricket, when a batsman would have been declared out via mankading without a single ball being bowled. Batting first, India gave a solid target of 290 runs to Zimbabwe on the back of a solid ton from Shubman Gill (130 runs). Gill, by the virtue of this knock, joined KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma in the elite list. He has become the 3rd Indian batter to score his maiden ODI century at Harare cricket stadium.

In March this year, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) made several amendments to the existing rules of the game. The rules made by MCC are applicable in international cricket. One of the major amendments to these rules that were amended for the ICC wasmoving the running-out of non-striker from ‘Unfair Play’ to Law 38, which concerns ‘Run Out’. Such form of dismissals are known as 'Mankad'. These rules will come into effect from 1 October 2022.
