New Delhi: Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team made a great start in the ongoing three-match ODI series against West Indies by winning the series opener by 6 wickets. The hosts are scheduled to play the second ODI on Wednesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where they are eyeing a series win. The good thing for India ahead of Ind vs WI 2nd ODI is that in-form batter KL Rahul and leggie Kuldeep Yadav are available for team selection.
Kuldeep, who has taken 107 wickets in 65 matches for India, was unable to be a part of India's ODI team for the last six months due to injury. His form has also not been good in recent times.
If Kuldeep gets picked in the playing XI for the second ODI, Deepak Hooda might get benched. Captain Rohit has also already said that he has plans to field 'Kul-Cha' (Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal) together. Rahul missed the 1st ODI due to personal reasons and will be available for selection in the second ODI.
Opener KL Rahul has also started practicing. If he makes a comeback in the playing XI, then Ishan Kishan may have to be rested. Rahul can play as an opener or at number five. Apart from Kuldeep, Deepak Chahar can also get a chance in the playing XI.
Fast bowler Navdeep Saini was part of the team as a reserve player. He has also started bowling in the nets after testing negative for Covid. Indian bowlers did well in the first match and Saini might hardly get picked in playing XI
India's Probable Playing XI for 2nd ODI: Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, Washington Sundar, Deepak Hooda/Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur/Deepak Chahar, Mohammad Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Prasidha Krishna.
