New Delhi: In what comes as a shocking development, Team India's star player Ravindra Jadeja, currently one of the best all-rounders in the world, is considering retirement from Test cricket.

Jadeja has been one of the most important players in all three formats of cricket for Team India for some time now and his stats in the longest format (Test cricket) has been quite impressive.

On the back of his staggering performances, Jadeja has pulled team India out of trouble many times when things got pretty tight and tense. However, the all-rounder has been troubled by injuries for some time now and if reports are to be believed, Jadeja is considering retirement from Test cricket.

Jadeja had sustained injury during the home Test series against New Zealand and was later dropped from the team. Due to this injury, he is also not part of the Test squad for India's tour of South Africa.

According to a report in Dainik Jagran, Jadeja is thinking of retiring from Test cricket.

Talking about Ravindra Jadeja's international career, he has played 57 Tests, 168 ODIs and 55 T20 matches for India. During this, he has scored 2195 Test runs, 2411 ODI runs, 256 runs in T20 cricket, while he has taken 232, 188 and 46 wickets, respectively, in all three formats.

Meanwhile, India will play a three-match Test series against South Africa with the first Test starting from December 26, Boxing Day Test at Centurion's iconic Supersport Park.

Apart from Ravindra Jadeja, star opener Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Axar Patel are also unavailable for Ind vs SA Tests due to fitness issues.

Hence, it will be quite interesting to see how skipper Virat Kohli will pick his playing XI. With no Axar and Jadeja, Virat will most likely pick Ashwin as the leading spinner.
