New Delhi: Arshdeep Singh, the star left-arm seamer, made his national debut in July earlier this year. The young pacer was absolutely lethal with the new ball in almost all his international appearances. Unfortunately, Arshdeep Singh was subjected to some gruesome trolling following team India's defeat against Pakistan in their Super-4 stage Asia Cup 2022 match in Dubai International cricket stadium.

Arshdeep was vehemently trolled on social media for dropping a catch against Pakistan in Asia Cup.

The 23-year-old pacer dropped Asif Ali's simple catch in the 18th over when he was batting on zero. The dropped catch could have been the turning point of the match as Ali went on to play a quick-fire 8-ball 16 runs cameo to take Pakistan over the line.

Arshdeep bowled the last over and did a remarkable job of taking the match to the last delivery. He conceded just 27 runs in 3.5 overs in a match in which the entire Indian bowling attack had an off outing.

Veteran spinner R Ashwin slammed trolls for targeting Arshdeep and also urged them to consider the effect it might cause on the cricketing career of the young pacer.

"So, we will get to the outrage that we saw on social media about his dropped catch against Pakistan. Yes, anybody in the public eye will get criticism, agreed. It is a part and parcel of our life. We will accept it and move forward. But getting personal is not the greatest of feelings. He (Arshdeep) is representing all of us when he is on the field, right?," said Ashwin on his youtube channel.

“Sometimes, we have to put ourselves in that situation as a commoner, be it someone working in an IT industry, or someone working in a factory. We are tweeting out of emotion as soon as he drops a catch, scolding him. Let’s admit it’s an expression of our emotions.

"Abusing someone is completely wrong, guys. Imagine Arshdeep reading those trolls. Imagine the toll it will have on the youngster. Imagine the effect it will have on him and his family," added Ashwin.
