New Delhi: A remarkable all-round effort from team India on day 4 of Ind vs Eng Oval Test helped them gain a dominant lead by the final session. In their second innings, India were bowled out for 466, setting England a victory target of 368 to win. For the 7th wicket, Shardul Thakur and Rishabh Pant attained a solid 100-run partnership to take the game away from hosts. The last four Indian wickets piled on the misery on English bowlers and frustrated them by adding 154 runs.
The top-scorer for India was hard-hitting opener Rohit Sharma with a stellar 127, while Cheteshwar Pujara (61), Shardul Thakur (60) and Rishabh Pant (50) scored fifties. Chris Woakes produced a majestic spell and was the pick of England bowlers claiming 3-83.
A sad news has arrived for Indian fans, just before England kicks-off their chase in the final session of the day's play. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to twitter to inform that Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara are not fit to take the field. Cheteshwar Pujara has pain in his left ankle while Rohit Sharma has discomfort in his left knee. The BCCI Medical Team is assessing them.
Earlier on Day 3 of the ongoing Oval Test, Rohit Sharma's heroic 127-run knock- his maiden overseas ton - and his crucial partnerships with Cheteshwar Pujara and K.L. Rahul helped India take a 171-run lead before bad light forced early stumps. At the end of Day 3's play, India were 271/3 on Saturday.
