New Delhi: Virat Kohli, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, has been struggling with poor form lately in international cricket. Kohli has not scored a single international century since the year 2019. It was being predicted that the RCB legend might return to form in IPL 2022 but that didn't happen and his lean patch continued. Many fans and former cricketers have advised him to rest, while some believe he should be replaced with another player. The question arises whether Kohli's career is going downhill.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja has slammed Kohli's critics who have been pointing out technical issues in his batting style, TimesNow reported. As per the report, some critics believe Kohli should avoid extensive front play and instead play more on the backfoot and attempt the cut shot which he rarely uses.

“Virat Kohli is a great player. Most of his runs came (from that technique). Even in his best form, he's not the one who has ever cut the ball even when was scoring hundreds. If you look at him now and say, 'has he changed anything?', I don't think he has. It's just that the scores aren't coming. I would probably worry that he's getting 20s and 30s, if he had gotten out in the first 10-12 balls, it's fine because any batsman can get out then,” Ajay Jadeja was quoted as saying by TimesNow.

"I know people believe that he should play on the backfoot. Obviously, sitting here on the television, everything looks easy. You get 2 yards extra, and you can see a different line. But he has always been like that. If he had changed anything, you could say, "maybe the backfoot play is not happening."

"Show me any of his century where he plays the cut shot, and show me a shot when he has gone back and played to mid-on or mid-wicket.“For me, it's the same Virat Kohli physically. I think it's the mental aspect," he added.

Kohli's last half-century in ODIs came in January 2022 against South Africa in Cape Town. In his five innings on the ongoing England tour, Virat scored 11 and 20 in the rescheduled Edgbaston Test, Later, he scored 1 and 11 in the two T20Is. After missing first ODI, Kohli scored just 16 runs in the second ODI at Lord's.
