New Delhi: The Indian cricket team made a solid comeback in the ongoing India vs Australia three-match T20 International series by attaining a remarkable six-wicket win over Aussies in a rain-curtailed 2nd T20I at Nagpur. Delay in toss due to the wet outfield made Ind vs Aus 2nd T20I eight-over-a-side match. Batting first, Australia scored 90 runs which India chased down with six wickets remaining, courtesy a fiery captain's knock from skipper Rohit Sharma (20-ball 46-run innings).
Both Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik were picked in India's playing XI for Nagpur ODI vs Australia. Karthik came out to bat ahead of Pant and hit a six and four in the final over to help his team cross the finishing line, level series 1-1.
Meanwhile, sharing his opinion on the never-ending Pant vs Kartik debate, cricketer-turned-commentator Sunil Gavaskar said that India can go with both Pant and Karthik in their lineup.
"Yeah I see both of them playing. Hardik at 5, Pant at 6 or maybe Pant ahead of Hardik depending on the situation and Karthik at 7," the former opener said in an interaction with Star Sports.
Gavaskar also suggested that Rishabh Pant needs to work on his batting skills when it comes to playing shots through the offside.
"His offside game. Same with Hardik Pandya as well. Look at how he has developed his off-side game. Bowlers will say he's got the power, so let's target his off-side. What Hardik Pandya is doing now is using the pace and hitting over deep point for a six, that's what Pant has got to do. Pant is a predetermined, premeditated cricketer. He decides quite often what he is going to do before the ball is bowled. That's why he gets into trouble as he looks for something which is not there," he added.
