There is no doubt that Indian cricket team's star batsman Rohit Sharma is currently one of the best batsmen in world cricket. When it comes to Rohit as an opener in ODI and T20I cricket, he is ranked among the best all over the world but when it comes to Test cricket, Rohit Sharma often comes under scanner.

Ever since Rohit Sharma started batting as a Test opener, he has played some excellent innings, but in the ongoing Test series against Australia, he is constantly making mistakes, which fans and cricket pundits are terming as a big disappointment.
Rohit Sharma scored 44 runs in the first innings of Ind vs Aus Brisbane Test. The veteran looked in amazing form when he started but out of nowhere he played a bad shot and gave away his wicket in a silly fashion.
On Day 2 of Ind vs Aus Brisbane Test, Rohit Sharma skied the ball off Nathan Lyon's delivery and Starc completed an easy catch to get rid of the Indian opener. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar was agitated seeing Rohit Sharma getting dismissed after playing a loose shot and strongly criticized the senior right-handed batsman.
"Why? Why? Why? That's an unbelievable shot. That's an irresponsible shot. There is a fielder there at long too, there is a fielder there at deep square leg," Sunil Gavaskar told Channel 7 on Saturday.
"You have just hit a boundary a couple of deliveries earlier and why would you play that shot? You're a senior player, there is no excuse, absolutely no excuse for that shot. An unnecessary wicket, an unnecessary wicket gifted away. Totally unnecessary," Gavaskar added.
Rohit Sharma made a brilliant debut on the bouncy track of Gabba. He scored 44 runs with the help of 6 fours, but on the fifth ball of the 20th over, Rohit tried to play a big shot off Nathan Lyon's delivery.

Rohit Sharma wanted this ball to cross the boundary but it did not happen and Mitchell Starc ran to his right to take a good catch. After Rohit Sharma got dismissed, it started raining suddenly and after that Day two's play had to be stopped.
Cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar also criticized Rohit Sharma's dismissal and said the Indian opener played irresponsibly. After the second day's play, Team India's score is 62 runs for loss of 2 wickets and Australia is still ahead by 307 runs. India now expects good innings from Cheteshwar Pujara and captain Ajikya Rahane.
