Indian cricket team's star players Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubhman Gill, Prithvi Shaw and Navdeep Saini have been placed in isolation as a precaution pending investigation into a video that showed the cricketers eating indoors, in an Melbourne restaurant on New Year's Day.

The five Indian players, however, will be able to train "in accordance with the strict protocols that have been put in place to ensure the ongoing safety of all members of the Indian and Australian squads," said a Cricket Australia statement.
Some Australian media reports suggest that all five team India players have violated the Covid-19 protocols, which is now being investigated. However, some sources from BCCI told PTI that the players have not violated the Covid-19 protocols and the Australian media is deliberately running such reports.
“No, there has been no breach in bio-security protocols. Everyone associated with the Indian team is well aware of the protocols,” a BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
On Friday, an Indian fan posted a video on social media, in which he claimed that he payed food bill of 5 Team India players. The video has also gone viral on social media in which the players can be seen sitting in an indoor restaurant. According to Covid-19 protocols set by Cricket Australia, any player can go to the restaurant but it should not be an indoor eating one, whereas all 5 Indian players including Rohit Sharma reportedly went to an indoor restaurant in Melbourne.
The Indian Cricket Team is currently playing a four-match Test series against Australia, and the two teams are tied at 1-1 after the first two Test matches. The third test is to slated to begin in Sydney from 7 January.
