Washington Sundar bagged 3 wickets in the first innings of the Ind vs Aus Brisbane Test. His first victim was Steve Smith, one of the best Test batsmen of the current era. After taking 3 wickets, Washington scored a hard-fought half-century and with this he also achieved a special feat.

In the history of Indian cricket team, Washington Sundar is just the second player to score a half-century after taking 3 wickets in the first innings of his debut Test match. Former India player Dattu Phadkar did the same against Australia in 1947.

He has not been given a chance in first-class cricket by Tamil Nadu for the last 3 years but due to Ashwin's injury, Sundar got a chance to make his Test debut and he didn't fail to prove himself by making a significant impact.
