Young sensational all-rounder Washington Sundar was given a chance to make his Test debut for the Indian cricket team in Ind vs Aus Brisbane Test. Kuldeep Yadav, despite being an experienced spinner in the team, was not picked in the playing eleven for Ind vs Aus 4th Test match.
During the commentary, former Indian spinner Murali Karthik termed it as a big blow to Kuldeep's confidence. Former Indian batsmen Mohammad Kaif and Sanjay Manjrekar also expressed disappointment over Kuldeep not being given a chance in India vs Australia Brisbane Test.

During the commentary, Murali said, "It is heartbreaking for any bowler not to get a chance to play in the series even after having such experience." Kuldeep Yadav came to Australia as a third spinner option but still Washington Sundar was given a chance in Ind vs Aus 4th Test. Sundar, who is a sensational all-rounder, has so far taken 30 wickets in first-class cricket.
This is for sure a major setback for the spinner. After Jadeja and Ashwin made themselves available for the final test due to injuries, Kuldeep Yadav would have thought that he would play the match as he was the third spin option but it did not happen.
“I think Kuldeep should be very disappointed, and why shouldn’t he? After the last Test of the last series, he was the No. 1 spinner for India. He hasn’t played a Test since I think. If you're going in with five bowlers, which they've obviously looked at the experience and perhaps thought need a cushion. But why not play another spinner? It gives you that balance in the attack. If the pitch flattens out, and there isn’t much for the quicks, then suddenly it becomes a one-dimensional attack,” Agarkar said on the 'Extraaa Innings' show on Sony Sports Network.
Apart from Ajit Agarkar, another former fast-bowler Vivek Razdan backed Kuldeep Yadav and said Yadav is someone who has played 6 Tests and taken 24 wickets with an average of 24, so what else does he have to do to get a place in Playing XI?
"After the last Australia Tour, it was being said that after Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav is the number one spin choice in India's Test team. What happened to it? Anyway, what if India had to go bowling on the fourth or fifth day of the Brisbane Test. They could have picked three fast bowlers instead of four so that both Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav could play. And even if four pacers and one spinner were to be kept in the team, in that condition too Kuldeep is the best option instead of Sudar," Razdan said.
Apart from Washington Sundar, fast bowler T Natarajan also made his Test debut in the Gabba Test. Left-handed Natarajan bowled well but the first spell showed lack of control over the line and length.
The fourth and final match of the four-match Test series between India and Australia is being played at the Brisbane Cricket Stadium. Australia won the toss and decided to bat first and by the end of first Day's play, Australia scored 274 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 87 overs. Cameron Green (28) and Tim Paine (38) remain unbeaten on the crease.
