India vs Australia: India skipper Rohit Sharma almost missed out on scoring his memorable ton as he almost lost his wicket in a horrible mix-up with Virat Kohli on Day 2 of the ongoing India vs Australia 1st Test at Nagpur's Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) stadium.

The incident took place in the 48th over when Virat, after playing a defensive nudge off Nathan Lyon's delivery, wanted to rotate the strike but suddenly realised that taking a single could have been extremely risky. However, his partner Rohit Sharma had come half-way down the pitch by the time Kohli changed his mood. Fortunately, Rohit somehow survived as he was able to make it back to the crease, in time, courtesy of a quick dive.

Rohit Sharma went on to score a brilliant century in the first innings of the ongoing India vs Australia Nagpur Test. The senior opener hit the 9th century of his Test career while batting amazingly.

This is Rohit's sixth Test ton as an opener and his first-ever Test ton against Australia. Ever since Rohit started opening in Tests, his performance in the format has been remarkable.

Rohit Sharma played his career's first Test match against Australia on December 9, 2014 and after that he played 14 Test innings against them but could never score a century. After 2985 days of his first Test against the Aussies, in the 15th Test innings, Rohit scored a Test ton against Australia.

Talking about Day 2, Jadeja's unbroken 81-run stand for the 8th wicket along with Axar Patel helped India end the Day with a 144-run lead after the Australians were in with a chance to make a match out of it, having first reduced India to 168/5 and later to 240/7. India's score at stumps on Day 2 read 321/7.
