Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia): The Indian Women’s Cricket team defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by seven wickets in the Women’s Asia Cup T20 tournament on Saturday.


Pakistan had won the toss and opted to bat first.  India restricted Pakistan for 72/7 in their allotted 20 overs.  Ekta Bisht became the highest wicket-taker for India by giving 14 runs in 4 overs and grabbing 3 wickets. Pakistan’s Sana Mir remained not out and scored the highest 20 runs off 38 balls. Indian Bowlers Shikha Pandey, Anuja Patil, Poonam Yadav and Deepti Sharma bagged 1 wicket each.

The Indians put up a great effort and clinched the game in 16.1 overs. The target was achieved with the contributions of Smriti Mandana who scored 38 off 40 balls and Harmanpreet Kaur who remained not out with 34 runs off 49 balls. Pakistan’s highest wicket-taker of the match was Anam Amin who scalped 2 wickets in her 4 overs. She conceded 10 runs. Nashra Sandhu also took 1 wicket for Pakistan.

Ekta Bisht was awarded the Player of the Match for her amazing bowling performance.

India have now reached the final of the tournament. The crucial match between Bangladesh and hosts Malaysia will determine who will face India in the final.
