Flamboyant KL Rahul straight away turned on the fire for team India by smashing Windies bowlers for fours and sixes. Meanwhile, the young star batsman became the joint third-fastest batsman to score 1000 T20I runs, reaching the landmark in just 29 innings.
Unfortunately for his opening partner Rohit Sharma, he got caught on the boundary off Khary Pierre delivery as he tried to hit a flick shot over the boundary but fell short at the end.
After Rohit’s departure, team India raced to the 50-run mark by the end of 6th over with captain Virat Kohli and KL Rahul in the middle. Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli stitched a hundred run partnership to put team India in a commanding position.
Team India skipper Virat Kohli scored his fifty in style by punching the ball far away to the orbit for a huge six. KL Rahul attained a hard fought 37-ball 50, his 7th in T20Is.However, as every good thing comes to an end, so did Rahul's fine knock after a heroic 62 off 40 balls.
In the second-last over, skipper Virat chased down the big total as he got the job done for his squad by hitting the ball out of the boundary rope for a six.
Earlier, a fiery batting performance from the Windies batsmen helped them set India a mammoth target of 208 runs to win. A very important cameo from Jason Holder in the end ensured that the hosts have a tough total to chase and that the Windies bowlers face no pressure while executing their plans.
