New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced India’s squad for T20I series against South Africa and Test squad for the fifth rescheduled Test against England. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul has been picked to lead the national squad in five-match T20I series against South Africa, while regular skipper Rohit Sharma, and senior batter Virat Kohli have been rested for the limited-overs series.

The Chetan Sharma-led selection committee surprised fans by including Jammu and Kashmir pace sensation Umran Malik along with Punjab left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh in India's T20 team. The young duo earned their maiden national call-up for South Africa series. In what comes as a big shocker, senior batter Shikhar Dhawan, who was the most popular choice to captain India in Rohit Sharma's absence, has been completely snubbed.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya makes his much-awaited comeback to the Indian squad. Apart from Hardik, other two players who return to team India's T20 squad are Dinesh Karthik, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Kuldeep Yadav. Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel consists of India's pace attack with senior pacer Bumrah leading the attack.
