IND vs NZ, 2nd Test: Team India registered a historic 372-run victory in the India vs New Zealand 2nd Test at Mumbai's Wankhede stadium. India clinched the two-match Test series 1-0. The first match of the series was played in Kanpur, which ended in a draw. Ravichandran Ashwin once again displayed an excellent bowling performance as he picked up 4 wickets each in both innings.


Ashwin has once again proved that he is undoubtedly one of Team India's most important bowlers. Just when Ashwin dismissed New Zealand's Henry Nicholls in the 2nd Test, he attained a unique record. The veteran broke three big records in the match.


Ashwin becomes second Indian bowler to take 300 wickets on home soil


Veteran Team India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took 4 wickets each in both innings of the second Test against New Zealand. By taking New Zealand's  Henry Nicholls wicket during the match, Ashwin achieved the record of taking 300 wickets in Test cricket on home soil. He became the second Indian bowler to do so and the sixth bowler in the world. Anil Kumble had set this unique record before him. Kumble has 350 wickets to his name on home soil. Third in this list is Harbhajan Singh, who has 265 wickets to his name.


Most number of wickets taken in Wankhede stadium


Ravichandran Ashwin became the highest wicket-taker in the Wankhede Stadium. He equaled Anil Kumble's record by taking 8 wickets at the ground. Ashwin has taken 38 wickets in 5 matches, while Kumble took 38 wickets in 7 matches at this ground. Kapil Dev took 28 wickets in 11 matches and Harbhajan Singh took 24 wickets in 5 matches at the Wankhede Stadium.


Richard Hadlee's record was also broken


Talking about the Test matches played between India and New Zealand, Ashwin has become the highest wicket-taker with 66 wickets. He has broken the record of New Zealand's Richard Hadlee. Hadlee took 65 wickets in 14 Ind vs NZ Test matches, while Ashwin took 66 wickets in just 9 Test matches.


Ashwin surpasses Pakistan's Shaheen Afridi behind


Ravichandran Ashwin has become the highest wicket-taker in Test cricket in 2021. 50 Test wickets have been picked up by him so far this year. He has surpassed Pakistan's Shaheen Afridi, who has 44 Test wickets to his name this year.
