ENG : 262/7

#WICKET Jayant Yadav to Jonny Bairstow, OUT! Gone next ball! Jayant Yadav says I will remove Bairstow all by myself. Comes from around the wicket and bowls a loopy ball around middle, it turns in a bit as Bairstow presses forward to defend. Is beaten by the in-ward turn there and is rapped on the pads right in front of the stumps. A loud appeal follows and umpire Erasmus rules it out. Jonny opts for the review and replays show it was in line and would have crashed into the stumps. The decision stays as it is and Bairstow misses out on a deserving ton here.
End of over 76 (4 runs)
Eng: 230/6
Jonny Bairstow 72(153), Chris Woakes 13 (33)
#WICKET Ravindra Jadeja to Ben Stokes, OUT! Brain fade for Stokes as he throws it away. Jadeja serves a quicker full ball on off, Stokes dances down the track looking for a big shot, a premeditated attempt, completely misses the ball and Parthiv does the rest in a flash. He played for the spin which wasn't there and it brought his downfall. Ben starts to walk but then there is something said to him. Not sure what? Kohli is shown in the next frame and umpire Marais Erasmus is calming him down. Everything under control. England lose another wicket and this is a big loss for them.
Though this is India's session but they need to field well. Their fielding let them down in the previous Tests and they have not made any improvement in this game too. They have to rectify it sooner than later. Will we see the English middle order steadying the ship? Or will the home side run through with the cherry? Join us back at 1210 IST for the post-lunch session.
A perfect start for India after losing the toss on a chilly morning. Alastair Cook got what he wanted but things didn't go according to the plan. India didn't start off well as they gave two reprieves to the English skipper and it seemed like he would make the home side pay for it. Umesh Yadav provided the first breakthrough when he got one delivery to shoot up and that spelled the end for the young Haseeb Hameed.
End of Over 19 (0 runs)
ENG : 54/3
Jonny Bairstow 2(10), Moeen Ali 1(18)
#WICKET Ravichandran Ashwin to Alastair Cook, OUT! Ashwin strikes first ball and makes up for the dropped catch! He serves a gentle loosener, short and wide outside off, Cook rocks back to cut it through the line but gets a thin outside edge to the keeper. Parthiv makes no mistake and the finger goes up quickly again. Poor from the English skipper. England have thrown away the advantage of winning the toss and are in a spot of bother in spite of dropped catches by India.
#WICKET Jayant Yadav to Joe Root, OUT! Jayant strikes gold! Root is adjudged lbw and this is a massive breakthrough for India. He tosses up a fractionally short of a length ball, landing around off and turning in, Joe gets back and tries to hit it across the line but misses. He is rapped on the pads, they appeal and the finger goes up immediately. Root doesn't even think about reviewing and trudges back.
#WICKET Umesh Yadav to Haseeb Hameed, OUT! Umesh Yadav draws first blood! There is nothing poor Hameed can do about it. Yadav bowls a length ball on off, it shoots off the deck sharply. Hameed tries to defend it off the front foot but the extra bounce proves to be fatal. It kisses his gloves and lobs up towards gully where Rahane takes a simple catch. They all appeal and the umpire gives it out after taking his time. Haseeb Hameed is staring the spot where the ball pitched and then starts to walk back. My colleague reminds me that Haseeb Hameed got out due to lack of bounce in the last game and this time due to excessive bounce.
End of Over 4 (2 runs)
ENG : 14/0
Alastair Cook 11(11), Haseeb Hameed 3(13)
TEAM CHANGES FOR ENGLAND - Ansari, Duckett and Broad make way for BATTY, BUTTLER AND WOAKES. FOR INDIA - KARUN NAIR (debut) and PARTHIV PATEL replace KL Rahul and Wriddhiman Saha.
VIRAT KOHLI feels it's a pretty dry wicket so the toss doesn't has much relevance. Feels England would look to score big but at the same time there is a chance they can pick up early wickets. Further says his boys are eagerly waiting for this and it's important to keep the momentum going. On team changes, he informs us KL Rahul is injured and Karun Nair is going to make his Test debut and also Parthiv Patel will be opening the batting with Vijay.
TOSS - Kohli tosses the coin. Cook calls it correctly. And as expected ENGLAND WILL BAT!
Hello and a warm welcome for the third Test between India and England in Mohali. The home side after being put into corner in the opening Test, came back hard in the second to take a 1-0 lead. The momentum is for sure on their side and Kohli's men would want to continue it further.
