The Mumbai batsman who bowls occasionally made an impressive 73 on his Ranji debut in 2010 against Delhi. In his last innings during the recently conducted IPL against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he scored 23.
He had created a stir in February this year after he took to Twitter to express his disappointment over a selection issue. The former Mumbai skipper was apparently unhappy with the selectors' decision to drop Mumbai opener Jay Bista for the Ranji Trophy semi-final against Madhya Pradesh in Cuttack.
