New Delhi: A lot has been talked about MS Dhoni’s heart-breaking run-out since team India lost to New Zealand by 18 runs in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 semi-final in Manchester. A plethora of cricket experts believe that if the former captain had been sent up in the order, it would have been a different story altogether. However, one thing that cannot be changed is India’s exit from the marquee event.
MS Dhoni's heart-breaking run-out
With Indian hopes lying firm on their ever dependable finisher MS Dhoni, a turning point of the match came into effect when Martin Guptill produced a brilliant run-out to send Dhoni back to the pavilion.
With the run-rate piling up it was too much of a task for the Indian tail enders to pull off the chase. New Zealand eventually pulled off a sensational win over title contenders India and made it to their second successive World Cup final.
'I should have dived', says Mahi
In a interview with India Today, Dhoni revealed he regrets not diving for that second run which could have changed India's fortunes in the game.
"In my first game I was run-out and this game again I was run-out. I keep telling myself why didn't I dive. Those two inches I still keep telling myself I should have dived," Dhoni told India Today.
