ISL 2024/25: Mohammedan SC have created history, as they bag their first-ever win in the Indian Super League by defeating former champions Chennaiyin FC at their fortress in Chennai. The win for the Kolkata-based side came via a 39th minute goal from Lalremsanga Fanai, who now becomes the first-ever away goal-scorer for the side in the league's history, and the match ended 1-0.
With the win, Mohammedan SC are now fifth in the table and level on points with fellow Kolkata-based club, the legendary Mohun Bagan SG, who are above them due to a superior goal difference and also, the latter has played lesser games.
Chennaiyin FC have now suffered their first defeat of the season, and with the loss, now Punjab FC, Bengaluru FC, Jamshedpur FC, and Mohun Bagan SG are the only unbeaten sides in the league.
Also, with the win, Mohammedan SC have now come out of the list of winless sides this season, as Mumbai City FC, FC Goa, Odisha FC, East Bengal FC, and Hyderabad FC are yet to win this season.
