The French Open (Roland Garros) 2021 is set to begin on Sunday, 30 May. Despite Rafael Nadal absolutely dominating proceedings at the French Open for the past 16 years, the likes of Djokovic and Roger Federer have always posed a threat to Rafa. But this time, fans would be able to see only one out of the three tennis players in the final.

Why so? Explained

Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are all in the same quarter, which means only one of them could go in the final. It is being speculated that Djokovic might face Nadal in the semi-final. But it won't be as easy for the Spaniard to win his 14th Roland Garros this time. Alexei Popyrin of Australia will be the one who will face Nadal in the first round of the French Open.

There are many good players in the quarter which has Nadal, Djoko and, Federer. Those players include seventh seed Andrey Rublev 2021 breakthrough star Aslan Karatsev, Diego Schwartzman, among others.

The other side of the quarter also has some good players that include Danii Medvedev, Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and others.

But the fans who wanted to see a Federer vs Nadal, Djokovic vs Nadal or Djokovic vs Federer match in the final will be disappointed as all the three maestros are in the same quarter.

If Nadal manages to win his 14th French Open title, it will intensify the GOAT (Greatest of all time discussion) even further as Nadal would win his 21st title meaning that he will slip ahead of Roger Federer.  "This year, I lost (early) in Monte Carlo and Madrid. I hope not to lose here at Roland Garros. What I can do is fight," said Rafa before the start of Roland Garros 2021.
