Manchester: Manchester United stars Paul Pogba and Amad Diallo carried the Palestine flag after the 1-1 draw against Fulham on Tuesday. The footballers were showing their support and solidarity with the Palestinians in the ongoing conflict.
So far, 212 Palestinian lives have been lost in the last eight days in the violence. 10 deaths have also been reported on the Israeli side. The conflict between Hamas and the Israeli government has been intensified in the past few days. It has taken the life of 61 children so far.
Footballers in England are showing their support for the cause of the Palestine people. Pogba and Amad jotted the Palestine flag after Hamza Chaudhary of Leicester City celebrated the FA Cup Final win with a Palestine flag.
"If my players think about other things than football, that's a positive thing and I think we've seen that with some of the players before that they do care about," said Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, the manager of Manchester United.
"I think we need to have players from different backgrounds, different cultures, different countries, and I think we need to respect their views if they differ from someone else's," Solskjaer told reporters.
"If my players think about other things than football, that's a positive thing and I think we've seen that with some of the players before that they do care about," he ended.
Manchester United was playing in front of their fans after more than a year. The fans were allowed for the first time since the pandemic. Edinson Cavani was the goal scorer for Man United in the night against Fulham.
