The unpredictable weather in the British Isles has played spoil sport in the ongoing ICC World Cup with a couple of matches getting washed away due to pertinent rain.

In what comes as bad news for fans of both the teams, the rain Gods are unlikely to stay away from Trent Bridge, the venue for the World Cup game between India and New Zealand and cause unavoidable interruption in the match.

As per latest report coming in from Nottingham, the toss is likely to get delayed.

"There will be a cloudy dry start in Nottingham, then briefly brighter morning with rain afternoon," a source in the British Met department said.

The Indian team's practice session at Trent Bridge on Tuesday was called off due to rain.

Incessant rain has already washed out two matches -- Pakistan vs Sri Lanka (Bristol) and West Indies vs South Africa (Southampton) -- in the ongoing World Cup.Meanwhile, the high octane clash between arch rivals India and Pakistan on June 16 at Old Trafford, Manchester is also at the mercy of the weather gods. "Manchester will experience sunshine and scattered showers on sunday. It will be cool and breezy there too," the source added.

Both India and New Zealand have been fortunate to play out all their matches in the tournament so far. While India registered clinical wins over South Africa and Australia, Kiwis are on a roll with three wins on the trot.

Here is a look at the points table scenario if the rain abandons the encounter between India and New Zealand

INDIA

India with four points are currently placed at the fourth position in the points table. If their match against New Zealand gets washed out due to rain, they will split points with the Black Caps and add one point to the kitty. Kohli's 'Men in Blue' will leapfrog England into third place.

NEW ZEALAND

New Zealand are placed at the top of the points table with six points courtesy their hat-trick of wins. In case of the match against India getting abandoned by rain, Kiwis will add one point to their kitty and continue maintaining their Numero Uno position.

Given the format of the tournament, the result of every game will have a bearing on whether the teams make it to the knockouts (semis) or not. Hence, teams shall be keeping their fingers crossed to have a full day in the park
