The most prominent among them was Williamson equaling the record of most runs by a captain in a single edition of the World Cup.
The Kiwi skipper drew level with Sri Lankan Mahela Jayawardene's record of scoring 548 runs in one edition of the Cricket World Cup. Earlier in the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup, Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene scored 548 runs in 11 innings with an average of 60.88 (one century and four half-centuries).
Australian captain Aaron Finch and Indian skipper Virat Kohli are also chasing the record for most runs scored by a skipper in single World Cup edition.
In the ongoing 2019 CWC, Finch has scored 507 runs in nine innings, and Kohli has scored 442 runs in eight innings (before his semi-final innings). While Finch is 41 runs behind of Jayawardene and Williamson, Kohli is 106 runs away from the same record.
