People may call Chennai Super Kings (CSK) the ‘Dad’s Team’ but they know how to pull out victories on the field, no matter who are the opponents. On Tuesday, they registered their second consecutive victory in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 6 wickets.
Credit goes to Shane Watson who gave a dream start in the pursuit of the 148-run target. He faced 26 deliveries and slammed 44 runs with the help of 3 sixes and four boundaries. He may have missed out on his half-century but one of his maximums created a big commotion at the stadium.
The incident happened on the 4th ball of the seventh over of the CSK innings, Shane Watson hit a six to Amit Mishra and the ball got lost in the crowd at the Kotla. As the players and umpires waited patiently for the ball to be returned, the fans in the stadium had some other plans.
A policeman was forced to intervene but that also couldn’t help. Finally, the umpires had no other option but call for a new ball.
Here’s the video:
While chasing a paltry 148, Watson and Suresh Raina (30 off 16 balls) made batting look easy on a lifeless Kotla track.
Later, Dhoni, (32* off 35 balls) and Jadhav (27 off 34 balls) took Chennai home with some smart display of batsmanship. Even though the required rate did go over six towards the end, there was no pressure as such on the duo and it was more about crossing the line. Although Jadhav was dismissed with two runs left to get, Bravo completed the formalities.
