The members of the Indian cricket team witnessed a warm welcome as they set foot in South Africa for the upcoming multi-format tour, beginning with the first T20I set to take place at the Kingsmead stadium in Durban on Sunday, December 10. Moments after Men in Blue landed in the Rainbow Nation, they got a desi welcome and were cheered by the fans at the airport.
The series will start with the three-match T20I series which is being reckoned as dress rehearsal for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. After finishing the T20I series in South Africa, the Indian team will only play a three-match T20I series in January at home to play against Afghanistan ahead of the mega event.
The Indian team has clinched the T20I and ODI series against the Proteas on their soil but they are still looking for a Test series win in the African nation. The last time India played a red ball series in South Africa was in 2021-22 where the three-match bilateral contest finished in a 2-1 triumph for the hosts.
